Click on the links below to find out more about the activities and awards that Dre' Team Explorers take part in at our weekly Wednesday Evening meetings, or during weekend and school holiday excursions.
- Map Reading and Navigation Skills - an essential scouting skill to navigate using maps and a compass on hikes and expeditions.
- First Aid Skills - another necessary skill for expedition and scouting activities.
- Camp Skills - our Explorers learn to prepare, safely set up and take down a camp in all weather conditions; to erect and maintain tents and shelters, and to prepare and cook food whilst on camp.
- Dragon Awards - each camp experience is different, and to embrace those differences and encourage new ideas, the Dre' Team Unit arranges camps which enable of Explorers to gain the ScoutsCymru Dragon Awards.
- Explorer Scout Young Leaders' Scheme - Many of our Explorer Scouts volunteer alongside adult leaders in a Beaver Colony, Cub Pack or Scout Troop as Young Leaders. ESYLs play an active role in those sections, bringing a range of fresh ideas to the table, and acting as positive role models for the young people they work alongside.
- Duke of Edinburgh Awards - all Explorers are offered the opportunity to gain their DofE Bronze, Silver and Gold awards during their time with us at Explorer Scouts. All the training, guidance and supervision required to take part in the award and complete the various activities and expeditions is provided by our Explorer Scout Leaders during your time at Scouts.
- Chief scout’s platinum, diamond and Queen’s scout awards - these awards dovetail with the DofE awards and the Explorer Scout Young Leaders' Scheme.
- Summer Expedition - each summer, our Explorer Unit offers our Explorers the opportunity to embark on an expedition away. In the last few years, our Unit has been on expeditions hiking in Slovenia and Ireland, and sailing on the Norfolk Broads. Who knows where we might go in the next few years.
- Fun and games - life would be tedious without these, and we strive to make being part of our Unit enjoyable 🙂
