Scouting relies on volunteers to keep the scouting movement alive.
ScoutsCymru volunteers change thousands of young peoples’ lives in Wales by enabling fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in our communities.
Throughout Wales, there are hundreds of young people on waiting lists who can only get involved with more adult volunteers like you.
Volunteering for Scouts is challenging, fun and immensely rewarding. You could enable a young person to undertake the adventure of a lifetime or simply put a smile on a young person’s face when they are having a tough day. For more information click on the following link about volunteering.
You will be offered award winning training and gain externally recognised skills. Scouting offers the chance to build on personal skills, like teamwork, confidence and leadership. A study found that over 90% of our volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained through Scouting have been useful to their working or personal lives.
At Newtown Robert Owen Scouts, we are always eager to welcome new adult volunteers to help run the various sections, or simply to help the leaders out with fundraising, activities, transport, camps and excursions as required.
We are currently in the process of improving our scout hall, to make it more comfortable for use by our scouting sections during the winter months, and to make it a more attractive venue for hire by other community groups and organisations.
To make this happen, we need to establish a fund raising committee, made up of people that have the time to get involved, those that have experience of raising funds, and those with great ideas and enthusiasm. We would love to hear from you if are able to help with our fundraising activities, or if you know someone else that could help please give them a copy of our Fundraising Flyer.
If you wish to get involved and volunteer your time and skills to our scout group, or feel that you can help with the funding or improvements to our scout hut; please contact our Group Scout Leader, Chris Lloyd by email at gsl@newtownscouts.org.uk
We are currently on the look out for a new Group Secretary, additional Assistant Scouts Leaders, a new Cubs Leader and a team of at least 3 leaders to restart our Beavers Colony. If any of these are volunteer positions that you would like to enquire about, please contact Chris Lloyd for more information.
We are also constantly looking for additional people to join us on our Board of Trustees to help promote and improve our scout group and to assist with the management of our Jubilee Scout Hall.
If you are a parent/relative or an adult friend of one of our current or past youth members, and feel that you can offer help on an occasional or regular basis, please complete the Parents Help Form and return it the young person's leader.
