The Board of Trustees plays a vital role in the running of a Scout Group, making decisions and carrying out administrative tasks to ensure that the best quality Scouting can be delivered to young people in the Group.<\/h4>\n

The Board of Trustees exists to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of their appointment. The Board act collectively as charity trustees of the Scout Group, and in the best interests of its members.<\/p>\n

The Board is made up of four types of members:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Ex-officio members<\/strong> have a role on the\u00a0Committee due to their role in Scouting. These\u00a0include:
      \nGroup Scout Leader.
      \nGroup Chairman.
      \nGroup Treasurer.
      \nGroup Secretary.
      \nAssistant Group Scout Leader (if appointed).
      \nExplorer Scout Leader (if stated in the partnership agreement).
      \nThe sponsoring authority or its nominee.<\/li>\n
    2. Elected members<\/strong> stand for election at the\u00a0Annual General Meeting and are elected by the\u00a0Group Scout Council to take on the role.<\/li>\n
    3. Nominated members<\/strong> are nominated by the\u00a0Group Scout Leader in partnership with the\u00a0Group Chair and approved at the Annual\u00a0General Meeting.<\/li>\n
    4. Co-opted members<\/strong> are chosen to take on a role by the Board of Trustees due to specific skills or knowledge useful to the committee.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
